Cop Car Tries His Luck Jumping a Railroad Crossing and Gets Hit By Train

A Texas Midland County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck by a train in their Chevy Tahoe SUV, after crossing the tracks despite flashing warning lights. Miraculously, the officer was "banged up," but “walking and talking” according to Sheriff Gary Painter.

The deputy was reportedly responding to the emergency call of a small child having trouble breathing. Seeing one train pass in front of them, they made the decision to prioritize the call. Unfortunately, they were unaware of a second train approaching, and a second police SUV narrowly avoided following the first into disaster.

After the clip was shared on Twitter, some viewers made fun of the officer for their mistake, and the tendency of police to avoid traffic laws in general. Others came to the deputy's defense. "In the moment he’s focused on getting to the call," one person commented. The child reportedly received help and was transported to a local hospital.
